Inlays and onlays are lab-made, indirect restorations that are placed on teeth when the cavity is too large to be restored with a simple filling. Inlays are made of different materials:
- gold
- porcelain
- compositeWhile the tooth is numb, your dentist will remove decay or an old filling. The place can be cleaned and carefully prepared before your dentist takes the impression of your tooth and sends it to a dental laboratory. It can usually be cemented or bonded to the tooth the following week.
